November 1, Port Isabel, TX  World's Championship Shrimp Cook-Off Dozens of contestants and thousands of attendees will be treated to world famous shrimp recipes and a wide variety of family entertainment. The annual festival is a favorite among area residents and visitors and tests the skills of amateurs and professional chefs from throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Contestants are judged on appearance, aroma and taste of their specialty dishes and samples are available to the general public at a modest fee. In addition, attendees will enjoy live music by "The Agency", games and activities for kids of all ages, and vendors offering everything from funnel cakes to original artwork, gifts and collectibles.

2nd Annual Bayou City Shrimp Festival Oct 10th-11th 2009
 
Sweet jumbo shrimp will be frying, boiling and sizzling on the grill in northwest Houston when Traders Village hosts its 2nd Annual Bayou City Shrimp Festival on October 10th and 11th.
The Bayou City Shrimp Festival is two days full of food, music, and cold brew set to a background of live music from the 800-square foot Pepsi Concert Stage. In an almost Gump-like presentation, the French Quarter Market & Grill will serve up heaping portions of boiled shrimp, grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, shrimp gumbo and more beginning at 11:30 a.m. both days.
The talent line-up will be announced soon, so check back for more information as it becomes available.

The Bayou City Shrimp Festival is from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at Traders Village, 7979 N. Eldridge near Highway 290. Admission is free, and it’s just $3 to park.

38th Houston Pod Chili Cookoff Apr 25th-26th 2009
 
A Texas-size salute to the official state dish will be served up at the 37th Annual Houston Pod Chili Cookoff, Saturday & Sunday, April 25 & 26, 2008. This cookoff is the oldest chili cookoff held under the auspices of the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI).

Chili cooks from as far away as New York City will be joined by "chiliheads" (as they affectionately call themselves). So bring the whole family and join all the fun, food and festivities. All proceeds for this event will benefit local charities.

The market is just minutes northwest of downtown Houston on N. Eldridge Road off of Highway 290. Free to the public, parking $3.

30th ANNUAL FULTON Oysterfest March 5-8, 2009

Each year the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department & the Town of Fulton sponsor Oysterfest, a salute to the tasty bi-valve found in our local waters. Oysterfest features carnival rides, games, food, an oyster eating contest, live music, unique vendor booths and most of all - FUN!

The Fulton Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Town of Fulton are pulling out all the stops in preparation for the Annual Fulton Oysterfest scheduled for Thursday, March 5TH – Sunday, March 8th, on the waterfront in Fulton, Texas.  Fulton Volunteer Fire Dept leaders are putting the final touches on plans for the annual party.  This promises to be even larger than the 2008 event, which was the most successful in the festival's history, with over 30,000 visitors.
